Wedding Dress – $500
Find the perfect dress to make your wedding everything you dreamed of, without breaking the bank. Many local shops have sales, and will discount your wedding dress if your attendants, mothers, and other wedding party purchase their attire from them as well.

Hair & Makeup – $150
If you aren’t comfortable doing your own hair, or are looking for something special, let a professional handle it at a reasonable price. Tabitha’s Hair Design does Updos starting at $55. Makeup should be simple and natural. Pick a new shade of eye shadow and lipstick just for the occasion and do your own.

Menswear – Free
Many places will give you the groom’s tux rental free if the rest of the men in the wedding party rent their tuxes from the same place, it is a great deal.

Marriage License – $63
The Thurston County Courthouse in the Auditors Office. This includes the fee to have a certified copy mailed to you after the ceremony for your records and name change.

Invitations – $50
They don’t have to be expensive to be customized and beautiful
Vistaprint.com – 100 for $50.
Costco.com – The minimum is 100, runs from $50 up.

Photography – $850
Your goal for photography should be to capture the memories as they happen. It doesn’t have to be the most expensive photographer for the best photos and you should be able to keep your negatives or get copies of all your photos on a disk so you can print them as you wish.

Food – $750
Planning your wedding at an off mealtime can still provide you with a beautiful ceremony and reception without the high food bill of a full meal. Have a mid-afternoon wedding so it falls between lunch and dinner when people aren’t expecting a full meal and remember the rule of 5 for catering an event. The rule is: keep it to 5 dishes, at least two hot dishes, and try to combine things. For a holiday party we had sliced roast beef with horseradish butter, rolls, herb & garlic roasted potatoes, a delicious salad, cheese, crackers, and a hot spinach and artichoke dip. People could either have appetizers by making mini sandwiches with the rolls and cheese, or a full dinner with appetizers and the only thing we added were rolls, which are inexpensive. Worried about alcohol? Instead of spending a lot on different types to have something for everyone, keep it simple too. A signature drink or drinks, wine and punch, or just champagne for the toast, it doesn’t have to be costly. The weddings that have tried to have everything for everyone have lots of everything left over.

Rings – $225

Music – $495
A string piece quartet? Musical Trio? Harpist? DJ/Emcee? Live Band? The choice is yours and the possibilities are endless.

Flowers – $700
Costco.com The same packages would cost thousands at a traditional florist. They are beautiful large bouquets, and an excellent value. The Costco package includes: 1 Bridal bouquet, 1 Maid of Honor bouquet, 4 Brides Maid bouquets, 1 Toss Away bouquet, 2 Mothers petite hand-tie, 12 Corsages, 12 Attendant boutonnieres, 6 Centerpieces, 10 Rose Petal buds.

Cake – $225
Make sure it tastes as good as it looks! Taste a lot of cakes, some of them may look amazing but they may taste like dry sawdust to support the weight of the frosting and design. Very few people will remember what your cake looked like, but if it tasted horrible they will remember that!

Transportation – $500
For a memorable experience for your guests and an excellent photo opportunity you can hire a carriage pulled by Clydesdale horses. They can provide a getaway right after the ceremony for some bride and groom private time before the reception and can take you to some fabulous places around town for photos. Then when you come back you could have your “rice” being thrown at your arrival instead of your departure.

Wedding Accessories – $200
These are those often forgotten things. Guest book, penholder with pen, garter set, ring pillow, flower girl basket, pillar candle for unity candle ceremony, Champagne glasses for your first toast, server set for your cake, keepsake photo album, money bag. At Costco.com you can get them all for one low price all coordinated to each other and many with specific wedding themes.

Wedding Favors – $275
Pick a theme, and run with it. Having a garden wedding – customized flower seed packets, having a tropical/beach theme – chocolates shaped as seashells, Love M&Ms – make a customized blend www.mymms.com, really the possibilities are endless, but should just be a little thank you. To again combine costs, if you were going to rent glasses for your toast, why not go to IKEA and buy them? They are $4.99 for 6, attach a custom tag to them thanking them for coming, and put a small tulle bundle of customized M&Ms or other chocolates inside.

Total: $9983

Wedding Dresses – $170
There are a number of dress shops that have off the rack wedding dresses for a lower cost but there are lots of online options that have all the romance of a wedding dress and cost less than having your hair done! There are lots of options too if you would like to have a coordinating dress for your attendant(s) if you have them. If you really want that crisp white gown, Target.com has them and they are all under $200!

This would be an excellent dinner for two with a moderately priced bottle of wine. You don’t have to provide food for your guests, and we actually recommend going to one of the local restaurants for a fabulous meal, you can add “You are welcome to join us for a no-host dinner at ______ after the ceremony” and your guests can decide for themselves to join you or not.

Rings – $225

We have several acoustical CDs that are appropriate as wedding music, including traditional wedding music. Even better, if you have a special song, incorporate it into your ceremony, it can play in the background while we sign your wedding certificates.

Why not have a designated driver for your trip out to dinner and back. There are limo services available with low hourly rates.
